I will just focus on Volcanic Shell and not on other components of this deck, which is an old card from Force of the Breaker back in 2007.

Volcanic Shell (ヴォルカニック・バレット)

Level: 1
Attribute: Fire
Type: Pyro/Effect
Att/Def: 100/0

Once per turn, while this card is in the Graveyard you can pay 500 Life Points to add 1 “Volcanic Shell” from your Deck to your hand.

It has effect when it is in grave, which allows you to add another copy to your hand by paying 500LP. The 500LP is negligible but it gives you an extra monster in hand. Technically, it’s useless to have Volcanic Shell in hand by itself. It is mainly used for Quick Synchron, and the deck runs Raigeiki Break too. Another good point is that it helps to fill up your grave for Pot of Avarice. When you’ve one in grave, and gets another copy from deck by effect, then uses Quick Synchron’s effect to send it to grave. That already makes two monsters in grave, and after Quick Synchron is used to synchro summon with another monster, that makes four. If you use Dandylion’s token, which means you’ve Dandylion in grave to make it four as well. One key point is that, remember to use its effect whenever possible (since it’s once per turn), it is a no brainer to filter your deck. And you won’t want to draw a Volcanic Shell in your draw phase when you can search it out for ‘free’.

Thunder Dragon comes to my mind in terms of using it for Quick Synchron and Raigeiki Break, whereby you discard to add two copies from deck. The main difference is that Thunder Dragon requires you to draw it while Volcanic Shell doesn’t. With 3x Lightlord Hunter Raikou, 1x Card Trooper, 1x Tuning, and 1x Reinforcements of the light, you can use the ‘add monster to hand’ effect without wasting your draw phase on a low utility card.

If you plan to play this deck, start searching for this card as this may become a standard card. Furthermore it is a rare, and there’s no reprint version.
